Spaghetti is definitely a staple around here. You can feed an army for under $10, it doesn’t take long (especially angel hair noodles), and my kids love it. Most of the time I cook noodles, drain them, and then put them back in the pan with some sauce dumped on top of them.
For a LONG time, I had ever bought the cheapest spaghetti sauce, the kind in the can that you can buy for less than a dollar. But that stuff does get boring really quickly.
In college, my cousin/roommate taught me a great way to “dress-up” that cheap sauce to make it a fancier, more delicious meal. All she added was some beef, peppers, and onions. At first I was skeptical because it was so simple and I thought it was a strange combination, to put with spaghetti sauce, but it turns out that they make a fantastic addition to an otherwise basic meal!
I would like to point out, I don’t really like green bell peppers. I do not enjoy them plain AT ALL. But they are so good in this sauce!
I am sure most of you have your own ways to liven up your spaghetti and I would LOVE to hear some ideas in the comments! 👇👇
